Love First for years has extended a helping hand to those in need. Many of you have been more then generous over the years and despite our distance, despite our individual economic conditions, and this year, despite our own personal struggles, we continue helping one another and those in our community that are in need.
Many of our guests at Community Breakfast and Lunch are un-housed and especially vulnerable to this weather. Kari Gaul, a new member, (yes, even during all of this we’re growing) proposed we have an old-fashioned Coat Drive. She and her partner Todd Parker will be at the church Saturday, November 21st from 10am to 2pm to accept new and gently used coats, sweaters, and sweatshirts. A crew of specially trained fashion experts will then sort, clean, and organize this bonanza for distribution on Sunday, November 29th as part of our Community Breakfast. The distribution will be in conjunction with the Shower Project which runs in tandem with our Community Meals.
These kits are full of necessities to keep warm and clean and are handed out to those attending Community Meals in December. Please visit the Amazon Wish List. Pick an item you’d like to purchase as a donation, and it can be shipped directly to the church. Purchases must be made by December 5. Those in need appreciate all that is done for them in your name.
None of this could be done without the support of the entire FUMC congregation. During this weird time FUMC is still doing what we do best. Love First.
