Community Meals Update!

This year is flying by, we are in July!  What a delight to get outside to serve our guests on these beautiful mornings. Last Sunday we served Juan’s amazing burritos, we had a great resource cart with lots of warm weather treats; ball caps, chap stick, small backpacks, toothbrushes and toothpaste. In addition, we had summer short and summer clothes to give away thanks to Todd, Kari and Bill’s “Cool Shorts for a long Hot Summer Drive.” The ShowUp Showers were onsite to provide showers. Then we had a humanitarian group called “Do Better” onsite to cut hair for our guests. Our guests were just beaming from the haircut and fresh shower. Lastly, we had The Sutter Vaccine team and a, representative from Medicare. What a support network!  It was a festive.

To date we have logged 666 volunteer hours this year. 1,800 sandwiches have been prepared and distributed. 881 meals have been served and 17 Kettles of soup have been handed out. Our bakers; Kari, Dorothy, Irene and Peggy have made delicious cookies and muffins and brought in home grown fruit. Laura Reed has organized the sandwich team and has kept this service going.

Thank you to all those that bring in food, fruit, sandwiches, shorts and baked goods. You make this ministry possible and you are feeding our local residents, those in need.

We need more volunteers to help. If you are interested let Roberta Mori know. We also need personal items for our guests; toiletries, soap, shampoo and small personal items.

Thank you!

from the Community Meal Team for all of your support.
