Details of a Heartbreak

First UMC got word from our Bishop late last week that there had been intelligence data shared with her and leaders of other denominations that around the time of the inauguration of the new president and vice president, some were plotting violent acts against churches that promote the protection of immigrants, of Black lives, and of the LGBTQ community. This was deemed possible particularly in state capitols.

So we took the drastic step of asking for all persons who might have used the building on Tuesday and Wednesday to abandon those plans. This interrupted some music work from John and Kevin, but more painfully by far, it canceled the Community meal planned to be served at our gate Tuesday evening. This is an event that is scheduled and looked forward to by tens and sometimes up to a hundred people, many of whom live on the street.

This was a tragic and one time event. Please pray for those we missed serving. And that we will never again be in such a terrible situation.

Bless you all,
