Early Response Team Training

Dear Friends in Faith,
Greetings on behalf of your Conference Committee on Mission Service!
We have a several opportunities to share with you.
First, the last few years have been challenging wildfire seasons.  To be prepared for such disasters, our Conference offers trained volunteers to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. They serve at Local Assistance Centers, help with mitigating further damage and assist with cleanup. The next session of this Early Response Team Training will be a virtual one on Saturday and SundayMarch 19th and 20th, 1-5pm, both days. To register, go to California-Nevada Conference of The UMC | Early Response Team Renewal Training 3/19 and 3/20/2022 (
Second, attached is the March issue of The Mission Connection, the newsletter of our Conference United Methodist Volunteers in Mission – UMVIM Program. It highlights mission service opportunities with our church camps and retreat centers, in wildfire recovery rebuilding and recovery from tornadoes in Kentucky.  This month’s newsletter can be found at The Mission Connection.

And lastly, we are all devastated by the recent volcanic eruption and tsunami damage in Tonga.  Churches in our conference have actively responded to assist in the relief effort.  We will now build resources towards the recovery over the next couple years.  This includes a special offering at our upcoming Annual Conference in June.  However, you are welcome to contribute even now at Annual Conference 2022 Offering Opportunity: Tonga Recovery Fund (

We share Conference mission and outreach opportunities each month.  If you have a story you want to highlight, just send an article and photos to me, Justin at or to Shari Sandoval at
