Global and US Needs

The recent ice and snow in Texas has led the United Methodist Committee on Relief to disburse funds, teams, and resources to work in this emergency. In a parallel way, the UMC’s General Boards are working aggressively to adopt and to advocate for policies that work to mitigate global climate change.

The same parallel paths have been a part of UM work for fire relief in the Western USA, in flood relief around the world (particularly in the Philippines and Mozambique), and in agricultural restoration in Eastern Africa and elsewhere in the past months, among many other projects.

If you wish to support any of these efforts or others, you may give to First Church with a clear note as to the area of the world or advocacy you wish to support. We will direct the funds to UMCOR for relief, or to a UM General Agency working on policies and governmental advocacy as you indicate.
