Love First Word for November 10, 2021

This week, Pastor Rod discusses “The Simplest Centering” which takes us to Luke 22:14-20. Note how the Passover meal is imbued with thanksgiving. It’s bigger than that. Not all of us pray over meals, but it was a core piece of spiritual life thousands of years ago for the Hebrew community, and we can learn from this. Each bite of food and draught of drink was a moment to receive, to commune, and to live into a profound and almost-ecstatic gratefulness.

Love First Word is an online weekly reflection on Wednesdays by Rev. Rod Brayfindley of First United Methodist Church, 2100 J Street, Sacramento, California. Pastoral messages include topics of faith, history, science and spiritual health.
