This week, Pastor Rod discusses “A Lifetime of Thanks” our theme on November 21 as we read the way the writer of II Samuel 23:1-7 reminisced on the life of David. Pastor Rod tells us, personally, he thinks he’d disagree with more than a few things David did, practiced, and apparently believed. And he’s not unique there. Clearly the writers of the Bible disagreed with a lot of David’s acts (look at II Samuel 11 or chapter 24!). But he was remembered as a psalmist, a praiser, a thanksgiver. We spend more time with his psalms than we do with the whole rest of his story. What a statement about a flawed life, that it would be remembered most for its joy and gratitude.
